Introduction of design elements and design principles will be discussed and implemented in paintings. Students will explore the use watercolor to design unique 3D stationery and artwork by incorporating mixed media while honing in on their individual creative skills.
Prerequisite: This exciting class is a continuation of Teen/Adult Beginning Watercolor, or for students with previous watercolor experience and want to expand their knowledge beyond painting an image.
Materials: Watercolors in tubes or pans, round watercolor brushes in size 6, 12 or variety, paper towel, 2 containers of water, hair dryer, pencil, eraser, masking fluid or pen, spray bottle, Strathmore 140 lb. watercolor paper or equivalent (approx. 8.5” x 5.5” will be used for each class), and variety of items to create special effects ( i.e., plastic food wrap, salt, sponge, isopropyl alcohol, wax crayon, etc.) and mixed media items (i.e.. plastic gemstones, ink, scrapbooking paper, and any scrap fabric, ribbon or textiles on hand).
