Watercolor can be a challenge medium, but also the most beautiful. Students will gain understanding of materials, composition, shapes, form, proportion, perspective and more. Learn without fear the aspects of various washes, paper, paints, brushes, masking, negative painting, and special effects for texture. Each week there will be a new topic and students will leave with completed scenes designed to reinforce techniques taught.
Materials: Watercolors in tubes or pans, round watercolor brushes in size 6, 12 or variety. paper towel, 2 containers of water, hair dryer, pencil, eraser, masking fluid or pen, spray bottle, Strathmore 140 lb. watercolor paper or equivalent (approx. 8.5” x 5.5” will be used for each class), and variety of items to create special effects ( i.e., plastic food wrap, salt, sponge, isopropyl alcohol, wax crayon, etc.).
