2020 Virtual Chalk Festival – Official Rules

May 21 – June 19, 2020

Artists of all ages are invited to transform their neighborhood sidewalks and driveways into chalk art filled with color and imagination.

ARTIST AND CHALK ART GUIDELINES

Eligibility: Artists of all ages may submit an image/photograph of one artwork created in dry, wet or spray chalk.

Artwork: Artwork can be any size. Artist are encourage to create artwork filled with color and imagination; be family friendly and appropriate for all viewers; contain no nudity or political statements, contain no words or symbols intended as advertising or promotion, and not violate any copyright laws.

AWARDS AND DIVISIONS

Awards: Over $350 in prizes to be awarded to 4 winners in each division through juried and public selections.

1st Place:  $25 plus a free Zoom Art Class* 1st Place:  $50 plus a free Individual Membership* 
2nd Place: $15 plus a free Zoom Art Class* 2nd Place: $25 plus a free Individual Membership*
People’s Choice Award People’s Choice Award
1st Place:  $10 plus a free Zoom Art Class* 1st Place:  $15 plus a free Individual Membership* 
2nd Place: A free Zoom Art Class* 2nd Place: A free Individual Membership*
*The Zoom Art Class has a $24 non-exchangeable  value. * The membership has a non-exchangeable $30 value.

AWARD SELECTION PROCESS 

Jury Selections: Group made up of artists, art instructors, staff and community members.

Public Selections: The People’s Choice Award Voting Form will be posted on the Art House Event Website and Social Media pages starting on Saturday, June 20 at 10:00 am EST  and closing Sunday, June 21 at 4:00 pm EST.

Viewing: Images will be posted on Event Website soon after received on Children’s Division and Teen & Adult Division Chalk Art pages.

Awards Notification: Winners will be notified by email on Monday, June 22 at 12:00 pm EST.


ENTRY FORM

Procedures: Enter name, age and upload an image of one chalk artwork. Up to 5 artists may enter on the form. Please provide an email address to be used for registration confirmation and awards notification only.

Images: Submit image in .jpg or.jpeg format less than 4MB labeled as LastName-Title.jpg (ex. Smith-ChalkMonster.jpg)

Registration Fee: $5 for the first artist and $3 for each additional artist with a maximum of 5 artists in one entry form. Proceeds from the 2020 Virtual Chalk Festival are directed to the artist prizes and public education programs.

Chalk: A limited supply of dry chalk in assorted colors will be available for pick-up at the Art House between June 1 – 3, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. If needed, please selected “Yes” in designated box on the entry form.
