Classes and Workshops

Classes and Workshops at the Northville Art House offer kids, teens, and adults the opportunity to experiment, learn, and develop art skills in small classroom sizes. Visual art instruction covers painting, drawing, printmaking, hand-sculpture, photography, graphic design, crafts, and mixed-media. Programs are scheduled in quarterly sessions and may not include each art form.

JULIE WOODARD

Class: “Funny Farm”- Drawing cartoon farm animals  | Ages 7-10
Type: Online Zoom Meeting, Three Sessions 
Date: August 11 – 13 | Time: Tu, W, Th 10:00 – 11:30 am

Learn to draw and color theory with markers to bring your cartoons of funny farm animals to life.

Materials: All included; Paper, pencil and Tombow markers. Upon registration student will be contacted via email to schedule pick-up.

Class: Under the Sea – Draw and Color with Prismacolor colored pencils | Ages 9-16
Type: Online Zoom Meeting, Three Sessions 
Date: August 18 – 20 | Time: Tu, W, Th 10:00 – 12:00 pm
 
Draw and color sea animals such as whales, sharks, sea turtles, sea horses… and even fantasy sea dwellers such as sea monsters and mermaids!
 
Materials: All included; Paper, Prismacolor colored pencils. Upon registration student will be contacted via email to schedule pick-up.

CORRY BUCKWALTER

Class: Introduction to Botanical Drawing | Teens & Adults, Ages 15+ 
Type: Online Zoom Meeting, Three Sessions 
Date: August 10 – 12 | Time: MW, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Participants will learn how to draw observational to create botanical illustrations in pencil. Each class will include a brief lecture on historical references and basic botany, a live step-by-step demonstration of an illustration technique, time to draw to learn direct observation skills, as well as, individual feedback on work. Exercises taught in class will develop participants’ control of line, texture, shading and composition. Draw directly from your own live or cut plants such as vines, leafy tropicals, succulents, and flowers. All drawing levels welcome.

DONNA GONZALEZ

Class: Best of Michigan! 3-Day Watercolor Mini Camp | Teens, Ages 9-16
Type: Online Zoom Meeting, Three Sessions 
Date: August 12 – 14 | Time: WF, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
 

Students with some watercolor experience will hone in on their watercolor skills while practicing techniques and incorporating new media in this 3-day mini art camp. Each day we will explore painting the best of Michigan has to offer. Each class a different subject will be taught. Wednesday: Landscape, Thursday: Robin, Friday: Cherry Pie
