General Information

The Northville Art House offers small class sizes, therefore we ask that all students pre-register. Instructors design each class with the number of students enrolled and prep the week leading up to the first class. Programs

In-Person Classes and Workshops are held daily from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm for ages 5 to adult. Classes typically run for 4- or 6-week sessions during the Fall, Winter and Spring months, while workshops typical run over the course of one or two days throughout the year. 

Programs offer students, the opportunity to experiment, learn, and develop art skills in small outdoor and classroom sizes with enhanced health protocols in place. Visual art instruction covers painting, drawing, printmaking, hand-sculpture, photography, graphic design, crafts, and mixed-media. Programs are led by Art House instructors and offered in daily or weekly sessions in the classroom. Classes limited to 8 students. Masks will be worn by students and instructor. Desks will be set up 3 feet apart.

Youth, Kids and Teens >>  are offered for ages 5 – 16.

Adults >> are offered for ages 16+.

Online classes>> offer students class instruction through your digital device such as a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or mobile device. Classes, led by Art House instructors, are streamed through the video conference tool called Zoom. You can download the free Zoom platform and class on your device through the Zoom website or an App Store. Click to learn more about Zoom>>

Summer Art Camps>> typically start the third week in June and run to late August in morning and afternoon sessions kids, teens, and adults. Led by Art House instructors, the camps offer youth and adults creative opportunities to try a new medium, develop as artist, and expand their art portfolio. Limited capacity. Masks will be worn by students and instructor. Desks will be set up 6 feet apart.

Young Artist Outreach>> offers youth K – 12 opportunities for artistic development, social interaction and enriching cultural experiences through school, after-school and community programs and partnerships.

Painting with Parkinson’s>> classes explore color theory and paint mixing and techniques that allow individuals with Parkinson’s with little or no prior skills to complete a painting in a few sessions. Classes offered based on availability of students. Call (248) 344.0497 to discuss participation.

Registration

Registration for ALL education programs is online through Active.com. If you need assistance or have questions, please call and a staff member will help register you online.

The Click To Register buttons take you to the Northville Art House page on Active.comor directly to a program. From here find and select the class desired, check the appropriate tuition, add to cart and continue to the check out process. Next, enter your log-in information if you are a returning student or email address to set-up a free account if are a new student. Once you are registered you will receive a confirmation email of your class payment. 

Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and is required to guarantee supplies. Registration forms and full “tuition” payment must be received before the first class. Walk-in and last minute registrations may not be accommodated. 

For online classes, students will receive a second email inviting you to the Zoom online class from the instructor. You will need the Meeting ID and, if necessary, Password to enter the class. Learn more about Zoom and Registration for Online Classes>>


Coronavirus/COVID-19 Liability Waivers

Please complete the appropriate liability waiver as requested by the Art House staff or instructor and before attending your first class. Currently, this waiver must be completed for all class sessions

Cancellation

Classes require at least three students enrolled in order to run or they will be cancelled. The Northville Art House reserves the right to cancel any class for any reason. In this event, students will receive a full refund or, if chosen, have money credited to the student’s Northville Art House Active account.

The Northville Art House does not prorate classes. A 50% refund will be given to student who cancels their registration 48 hours before the first class. No refund will be given within 48 hours of a class or workshop. Members will receive credit to their Northville Art House Active account.

Cancellation due to poor weather conditions

The Northville Art House staff will close the building when poor weather conditions are dangerous for students to drive. If a class or workshop is canceled due to weather, the staff will do the best to reschedule or add time to the next class. Only a credit to a student’s Northville Art House account will be given if staff is unable to accommodate a make-up time. No refund will be given.

Students will notified by emailed or text when a class or workshop is cancelled.


Pricing

Class prices are listed for members (M) and non-members (NM). Please note that some classes have an additional materials fee due online or by cash or check payable to the instructor on the first day of class.
