Online classes offer kids, teens, and adults the opportunity to experiment, learn, and develop art skills on any device. Classes, led by Art House instructors, are streamed through the video conference tool called Zoom. Participants will learn how to draw observationally to create botanical illustrations with pencil on paper. Drawing from a living indoor plant in your home, such as a vine, leafy tropical, succulent, or a cut plant from outside, students will gain a deeper understanding of plant anatomy, composition and botanical details which will foster more accurate and graceful drawings.

Materials: Choose a houseplant or clip a plant from your yard. Variety of pencil grades, erasers, sketch paper and/or smooth surface paper, pencil sharpener, ruler, and a loupe or magnifying glass if available.

Learn how to paint a lively representation of a favorite indoor plant or a cutting from outdoors. Beginning and intermediate painters welcome. The instructor will teach participants how to paint from observation, simplify the shape of your plant, select and mix colors and how to create a compelling composition, among other skills.
Materials: Gather a house plant or cutting from an outdoor plant, acrylic paints, support such as a canvas, etc., brushes, water, a pallette, palette knife and a pencil for a quick sketch. Contact the instructor with questions about materials if needed.

Learn how to paint a lively representation of a favorite cactus plant.
Even if someone with Parkinson’s Disease has not picked up a paintbrush since grade school, art therapy can help improve physical, psychological and social functioning. Sasha provides personalized instruction based on your skill level and creative goals. Students will explore color theory, paint mixing and techniques that allow them to complete a painting in a few sessions. Students with no or little prior drawing or painting experience are welcome.
Overriding all else, there is respect for each individual and an empathetic understanding of the path being traveled by both those with Parkinson’s and those who care for them.

This drawing class is a studio format (4th in a series) that focuses on the basics of drawing techniques while going beyond traditional materials such as pencil and charcoal and experimenting with mixed media, colored pencils, pastel and much more. Students with prior drawing instruction are welcome to join.

Children will learn the fundamentals of drawing. Each class encourages students’ creativity all while learning about color, value, composition and more. Students will build on skills learned in pencil, pastel and watercolor. Creating landscape, still life, figurative, and nature art pieces. There is no experience necessary – all skill levels of artists are welcome! The class will include work time and group discussion.

If you can write your name in cursive, you can draw! This course teaches artistic techniques (line, form, shading and more) to identify and harness one’s intuition through engaging “drawing on the right side of the brain”. In this non-competitive class you will learn the fundamentals of drawing and how to express yourself fully and feel the freedom and joy of your inner creativity!
Materials: 2B Pencil (plus 3-8B if you have them), drawing paper and eraser.
