Online Classes

Online classes offer kids, teens, and adults the opportunity to experiment, learn, and develop art skills on any device. Classes, led by Art House instructors, are streamed through the video conference tool Zoom. Class summaries and links are listed below with full class details, materials and pricing available on Active.com. Contact our instructors with questions.

Refund Policy: The Northville Art House does not prorate classes. A 50% refund will only be given to students who cancel their registration 48 hours before their first class. Members can receive a credit in their NAH account. NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN within 48 hours of first class.

Drawing is for Everyone 102 for Ages 16+

Instructor: Sasha Roberts-Levi

Ages 16 – 101
Jan 14 – Feb 11
Day: Fridays
Time: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Limit: 10 students

If you can write your name in cursive, you can draw! Learn artistic technique (line, form, shading, and more), engage your authentic self-expression, and feel encouraged to BE YOU! Improving your art skills and knowledge are inextricably tied to learning how to draw what you see, not what you think you see. Sasha teaches artistic techniques to identify and harness one’s intuition through engaging “drawing on the right side of the brain” techniques. In this warm, non-competitive class, you will learn the fundamentals of drawing and how to express yourself fully and feel the freedom and joy of your inner creativity! No experience is necessary! A ZOOM link will be sent by the instructor before the first class meeting.

Strathmore 400 Drawing Pad at least 9×12 (or similar brand)
Set Staedtler Lumograph Drawing and Sketching Pencils (2H – 6B or 8B)
Drawing Eraser
Kneaded eraser (optional)

Watercolor Beyond the Basics for Ages 16+

Instructor: Sasha Roberts-Levi

Ages 16 – 101
Feb 21 – March 21
Day: Mondays
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Limit: 10 students
5 weeks (M)$130; (NM) $145 (Students provide their own supplies)

The radiant transparency of watercolor provides an ideal medium through which to explore color and composition and your creative expression. This class is for those who have taken a beginner watercolor clxass. This class will help students become comfortable with watercolor painting techniques and enjoy the process of pain ting. Those who are looking to improve specific skill in this class are encouraged to bring their own projects to work on and complete, however some activities will be suggested each session. Class discussions will be encouraged along with instructor demos and color theory assignments. Bring your supplies and watercolor paper and be ready to explore the beauty of watercolor in a non-threatening and supportive creative community.

Suggested Materials (Buy the best you can afford; you’ll thank yourself for it)
Canson’s XL Watercolor Pad at least 9×12
Tube or Pan Watercolors (1 warm and 1 cool red, yellow, blue and colors of your choice)
A variety of short handle round and flat brushes (synthetic, sable, or squirrel hair)


Adult Drawing Exploration for Ages 16+

Instructor: Julie Woodward

Day: Mondays
Dates: Feb 21 – March 21 (NO class on March 14)
Times: 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Ages: 16-100+
4 weeks (M)$108; (NM) $120 (Student brings their own supplies)

For any adult who wants to explore a variety of drawing subjects and mediums from the warmth and comfort of their home. Subject matters will range from still-life, florals, animals, landscapes, buildings. Mediums will include pen & ink, pencil, colored pencil, and pen & wash on a variety of papers.
