The Northville Art House has invited artists to capture en plein air (outdoors) the City of Northville, a lively town with historic buildings, Victorian-era architecture, intriguing landmarks, and scenic parks. The public is invited to watch the artists at locations throughout town during the Plein Air Paint Out on July 22 – 24. Then, viewers can see the completed artworks at the Plein Air Exhibition which opens with the Live @ 5 Event, on Saturday, July 30, 5 – 8 pm, (Tickets $35) and runs through Saturday, August 20.
Artists, 18 and over, in the continental U.S This is a first-come first-serve exhibition with approximately 40 artists to be accepted to create an unlimited amount of work in the Paint-Out. Up to 3 works selected by the artists to be included the Exhibition.
Entry Deadline: Friday, July 22, 11:59 PM EST or until maximum capacity reached.
Entry Fee: Non-refundable fees of $35 for non-members and $25 for Northville Art House members.
Notification of Acceptance: Artists notified immediately.
Stamped Artwork: Each artwork to be exhibited is not to exceed 32 inches in any direction including frame and must have an authentication stamp visible on the back of a blank surface to be eligible for exhibition.
Artist Check-in: Stamps available at Northville Art House, 215 Cady St, on Thu – Fri, July 21 – 22, 8am – 5 pm, & Sat July 23, 8 am – 10 am.
Equipment: Each artist is responsible for bringing, set-up, and “Leave No Trace” clean-up of all art equipment and supplies. No firelighting materials allowed.
Cancellation: The event is rain or shine, however, in case of severe inclement weather, participants are advised to take appropriate shelter including the Northville Square for tornado evacuation.
Art Delivery: Artwork drop-off time is Monday, July 25, 12 – 3 pm.
Paint-Out Location: Artists MUST create all artwork in the open air at permitted locations of their choice within the City of Northville boundaries between 6 am – 10 pm from July 22 – 24. Please be respectful of residents, visitors, and businesses. Artists are encouraged to visit the city before the Paint-Out to determine locations and share with the Art House as the event will be promoted as spectator-friendly to the community.

Prizes: Over$750 with cash prizes for 1st – 4th Place: $300, $200, $100, and $50; Honorable Mentions. Also, the 1st place artist has the opportunity to exhibit at The Northville Gallery, located Downtown Northville at 123 E Main St.
Exhibited Artwork: Each artist may select up to 3 works for inclusion into the exhibition. Artwork is preferred to be for sale, in excellent condition, and properly stamped and labeled with name on back. All work must be ready for hanging with hooks and wire. Canvases must be framed, wrapped, or have painted sides. Works on paper must be framed. Sawtooth claw hangers are not accepted.
Art Delivery: Artwork drop-off time is Monday, July 25, 12 – 3 pm.
Art Pick-Up: Unsold artwork may be picked-up on August 21 – 22, 12 – 2 pm, and after during regular gallery hours. Work not picked up after 30 days will be considered abandoned and become the Art House property.
Art Sales: A 35% commission will be charged on all art for sale. Art may not be removed during the exhibition.
Return Shipping: All costs, including packing, shipping and liability for damage, are the artist’s responsibility. A pre-paid label, stamps or payment for shipped artwork must be provided.
Terms and Conditions: Submissions to the exhibition shall constitute an agreement to comply with terms and conditions set forth in the call for entries, entry form and in the Art Exhibition and Sales Agreement.
