Maybury State Park: Juried Plein-Air Exhibition

The Northville Art House, in partnership with Maybury State Park and the Friends of Maybury, invited 18 artists to capture the natural outdoor beauty of the Maybury State Park. Artists created 50 works at the MSP Paint-Out between July 23 – 25 to be presented in the MSP Plein-Air Exhibition from July 31 – August 21. Prizes totaling $1000, were selected by juror Valerie Allen and included Purchase Prize by the Friends of Maybury to be placed in the parks new headquarters.

July 31 – August 21: Maybury State Park Juried Plein-Air Exhibition

Artists invited to participate in the exhibition include:

Barbara Baker (West Bloomfield), Nancy Barick (Plymouth), Katie Darling (South Lyon), Kevin Grow (Northville), Sara Hadley (Novi), Dawn Johnson (Livonia), James Karell (Plymouth), WanChuan Kesler (Northville), Sarah Koch (Livonia), Janet Kohler (Whitmore Lake), Betsy Marsh (Shelby Twp), Sandra Nursilo (Novi), Robert Perrish (Livonia), Sandy Steed (Canton), Sara Sturtevant (Elk Rapids), Sharon Sunday (Jackson), Cornelis vanSpronsen (Canton), and Jenny Vaughn (Trenton).

All works are for sale in-person and in our online Artisan Store.

Live @ 5 Reception & Awards Presentation

The Live @ 5 event featured live music by Maurice Draughn (Harp) and Dennis Carter (Flute) of Michigan Philharmonic, appetizers by Style Chefs and the plein-air artworks by the 18 participating artists and emerging artist Tricia Hampo.

July 23 – 25: Paint-Out at Maybury State Park

The public was encouraged to visit and watch the artists creating artwork en plein-air, or outdoors, at various locations around Maybury State Park, then visit the Northville Art House to see the completed artwork on view in this exhibition. 

Information was made available at the Main Trailhead to learn about the park and artist locations courtesy Friends of Maybury State Park.
