The Community Flag Project invites artists of ALL ages to create a two-dimensional work of art to be incorporated into a community flag and installed at the Northville Art House.
We believe that art is essential, especially in times of crisis, therefore we are offering this project for FREE to serve our community during this challenging time.
Our goal in creating this project is to bring our community together through art, providing a creative outlet and common goal. Will you join us and Be a pART of it?
In 1966, the flagpole at Northville Art House, originally The Scout Building, was dedicated to former scout leader, Mr. Carlson. The Art House is once again raising a flag in recognition of this important community site and history. The community flag will be installed to reflect the current character, personality and creative imagination of the community.
Local flags help to foster a sense of identity. They create a symbol which members of the community can relate to – often something celebrating the unique character of the area. A flag brings an area’s diversity together under one banner. It creates the personality of the place. It cements the idea of combined responsibility and gives community members something to feel proud of and feel connected to.
