West of Center features 50 works by 35 artists who build upon artistic tradition and embrace new experiments in contemporary art. Artists were encouraged to push the boundaries of art imagery and practices, including those set by traditional techniques, materials, concepts, genre, subject matter, personal, and societal norms.
Juried by Tara Welch,Executive Director of Studio 23/The Arts Center in Bay City, MI, the exhibition has $700 in cash awards for 1st-4th place plus honorable mentions to be award during the event.
Northville’s Old Glory features the 30′ x 45′ mural painting of the U.S. flag located on Northville’s Marquis Theatre and related ephemera by Detroit artist Jeff Von Buskirk. Commissioned by the late founder and owner Inge Zayti, the mural is titled with the words, “America United September 11, 2001.”
The community is invited to come together to celebrate this nationally registered memorial and reflect on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

Alex Mendenhall is a nationally touring indie soul musician based in Detroit, MI. Drawing from soul, alternative, and jazz, Mendenall’s music is high-energy and features carefully crafted wordplay and rich orchestrations. Alex combines acoustic chord progressions with dynamic foot percussion and his expressive melodies and heartfelt storytelling reflect universal ideas of life, death, love, and what it means to be human.
