Symphony in Watercolor: Rocco Pisto celebrates an artist who has spent decades transforming the abstract elements into vibrant, expressive works. Since the 1970s, Pisto has embraced the spontaneous, unpredictable beauty of water-based media, allowing color, movement, and intuition to shape each piece. Each work is built through layered washes that create depth and harmony. The brush moves with both intention and openness, responding to the magic of the unexpected. Guided by a creative instinct, Pisto’s paintings invite viewers into a world where structure and improvisation meet, offering a visual symphony that feels both alive and effortlessly free.

This program offers Art House Members the opportunity to receive thoughtful, constructive feedback on their work in a supportive group setting. Participants are invited to bring finished or in-progress paintings for critique by Rocco Pisto, whose decades of experience in watercolor and abstraction provide valuable insight. Attendees are encouraged to join the conversation, creating a collaborative environment that helps artists strengthen their technique, clarify their ideas, and grow their practice. Free to Members. About the Artist 

Rocco Pisto has spent over 50 years as an artist, focused primarily on abstract watercolor painting. Rocco earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1974 with post-baccalaureate and Master of Fine Art studies at Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University.

Currently, Rocco is President Emeritus of the Michigan Watercolor Society (MWCS) after serving on the board for more than 10 years in various positions. He holds a Signature Membership and Great Lakes Fellow designation with MWCS as well as memberships in the National Watercolor Society, International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA), and the Brighton Art Guild.

Rocco’s art has been exhibited in several galleries in Ohio, Michigan and Arizona and has won several awards juried by nationally recognized artists. He has also been asked to jury various community exhibitions and provide experimental watercolor workshops. He will be leading a Watercolor Critique Day as well as the two-day workshop Creating Spontaneous Watercolor with Abstract Elements and Techniques during his solo exhibition at the Northville Art House.
