The Northville Art House welcomes the public to the 11th annual, 3-day Arts and Acts Festival featuring over 100 unique fine artisans, crafters and young artists in three fairs – Art in the Sun, Maker’s Mart and Young Artist Juried Art Fair. Plus the annual Short on Words and Chalk Festival events, as well as the new Northville Dog Show. We have adjusted our visitor experience to meet health guidelines and invite everyone to safely support our festival artists, entertainers, food vendors, sponsors, local businesses, and community partners. NORTHVILLE ART HOUSE

Northville Art House Inc. is 501(c)3 non-profit art facility where artists and the community come together to gain exposure and appreciation for the visual arts, experiment and learn art techniques, and unleash their imagination and self-expression in exciting ways!

All proceeds for the Arts and Acts Festival help the Northville Art House fulfill its mission to cultivate the Arts through creative experiences and educational programs in the Metro Detroit community. Be a pART of it!


ADMISSION

Free and open to the public. The Chalk Festival and Dog Show requires registration and a small fee. Artists and Food Vendors charge various prices.


LOCATION 

The 2021 Arts and Acts Festival will be held on West Cady Street, between Wing Street and First Street. The area includes the parking lots next to Old Village School, Community Center, District Library and the Art House. A number of restaurants, shops, and landmarks are within walking distance of the festival in historic Downtown Northville.

COVID-19 SAFETY

The Arts and Acts Festival will follow all current COVID-19 City of Northville, State of Michigan, and CDC guidelines with face coverings recommended to be worn by unvaccinated visitors for the protection of everyone. Visitors are asked to keep a safe social distance from others, avoid standing in crowded areas, and wash their hands frequently. Hand washing stations and sanitizer will be available throughout the festival. Thank you!

EXTREME WEATHER SAFETY

Northville Square, located at 133 W Main St, east of the festival, is the designated evacuation center in case of a tornado and extreme weather.


PARKING

There is free public parking in Downtown Northville in several parking lots and street spots within walking distance of the festival.

THREE ART FAIRS, ONE CELEBRATION 

Over 100 fine artists, crafters and young artists participate in three fairs – Art in the Sun, Maker’s Mart and Young Artist Juried Art Fair

Art in the Sun showcases national fine artists competing for monetary awards based on artwork and presentation.

Maker’s Mart showcases handicraft work, unique creations, and gifts by crafters from Michigan around the country.

Young Artist Juried Art Fair showcases local young artists in grades 2 – 12 selling original work and reproductions.

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT  

Arts and Acts showcases a variety of live performances by solo artists, strolling horn players, and performance groups from the Metro Detroit and the Midwest under three outdoor tents.

ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

Arts and Acts features a number of family-friendly art activities through partnerships with local artists, business and community organizations including the annual Short on Words and Chalk Festival events as well as the new Paws for Applause Dog Show.

Short on Words, organized by Preservation Dental, the Office of Dr. William S. Demray, highlights the art of literature by inviting writers of all ages to share their original short stories and poetry inspired by a photograph or theme.

At the Chalk Festival artists transform the pavement into a checkered pattern of color and imagination while visitors can view a variety of chalk art at their feet, then vote online for their favorite!
SATURDAY, JUNE 19, 10 am – 4 pm | Northville Art House Parking Lot & Sidewalks 


At the Paws for Applause Dog Show and Virtual Photo Contest dog owners show off their pet’s creative looks and styles as viewers and judges celebrate their artistry and vote for their favorite!

FOOD VENDORS & DOWNTOWN RESTAURANTS

Vendors and restaurants appeal to families, foodies and everyone in between. All food and drink MUST be consumed in a designated food zone with picnic bench seating available. Local restaurants located within a 10-minute walk.
