About the Chelsea Painters

The Chelsea Painters is a longstanding collective of artists working in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, gouache, egg tempera, and more. Since the early 1970s, the group has met weekly from September through May in Chelsea, Michigan to paint and engage in structured critiques and discussions that deepen their artistic practice. Their annual art fair, which celebrated its 50th year in 2025, reflects the group’s enduring commitment to excellence and community engagement.
