Rest in Pieces: The Mysterious and the Macabre

October 5 – November 2, 2024

Rest in Pieces seeks to create a genuinely eerie atmosphere, presenting 2D and 3D works of art that reveal the mysterious, macabre, and magical. Artists are invited to explore supernatural themes, such as apparitions, haunted sites, and even death, through a wide range of styles, from gothic to surreal. Subject matter can be disturbing and scary as well as beautiful and thought-provoking.

Awards: 1st-4th Place: $300, $200, $100, and $50; Honorable Mention Awards

Reception: Saturday, October 5, 4 pm– 8 pm with Awards Presentation at 6:00 pm

Eligibility & Artwork Requirements: 

  • Artists, 18 and over, in the continental U.S., may submit a maximum of 3 original works of art created in any media except
  • No electronic/sound, video/film, or works created with artificial intelligence (AI) programs
  • Artwork must be created within the last 3 years, and not previously exhibited at the Art House.
  • The MAXIMUM size of all artwork including the frame is 60” in any direction.

ONLINE ENTRY INFORMATION

Fee: Non-refundable fees of $40 for non-members and $30 for Northville Art House members.

Deadline: Monday, August 5 at 11:59 PM EST.

Terms and Conditions: Submissions to the exhibition shall constitute an agreement to comply with terms and conditions set forth in the call for entries, entry form, and in the Art Exhibition and Sales Agreement.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE 

Artists will be notified of the juror’s selections by email on Tuesday, August 27.


ART DELIVERY

Artwork must be in excellent condition, ready for secure installation, and labeled with name and title before delivery. Works on paper must be framed. Canvases may be wrapped, framed, or have painted sides. All 2D work must be ready for hanging with hooks and a wire. Sawtooth hangers are not accepted. All 3D work must be free standing, stand on a pedestal, or hang with wire or rod. All costs, including packing, shipping, and liability for damage, are the artist’s responsibility. 

Delivery dates/times are as follows with prior times by appointment only. 

  • Sunday, September 29, 12 pm – 2 pm
  • Monday, September 30, 10 am – 1 pm

Shipped artwork requires a pre-paid return label as well as any unique instructions for installations. Email tracking number where possible. Dates/times as follows:

  • Monday – Friday, 10 am – 4:30 pm
  • On or Before Monday, September 30, 1 pm.

GALLERY HOURS AND RECEPTION

GALLERY HOURS: Tuesday – Thursday, 10 am – 5 pm, Friday – Saturday 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, October 5, 4 – 8 pm with Awards Presentation at 6 pm.

Guests meet artists, view the exhibition, and take tours of nearby Oakwood Cemetery through the If Stones Could Talk: Living History Cemetery Tours event. Light fare, sweets and treats and Boo Bar. ART SALES 

A 35% commission will be charged on all art for sale. Artwork is preferred to be for sale but not required. Payment 30 days following end of exhibition. W-9 Form (page 1) required.


ART PICK-UP
  • Sunday, November 3, 12 pm – 2 pm
  • Monday, November 4, 10 am – 1 pm

Artists may have a representative pick-up their work. Other times by appointment. Art not picked up after 30 days is considered abandoned and becomes Art House property.

Return Shipment: Artwork will be packed in the same or similar materials and shipped by Tuesday, November 5.
