1-day workshop: (M) $50 ; (NM) $55
Material fee: $5 payable to instructor on the day of the workshop
This one-day intensive workshop invites creative youth to explore the intersection of fashion, art, and sustainability. Led by a professional fashion designer, this hands-on experience empowers students to reimagine and transform pre-worn garments into innovative, personalized designs.
In addition to foundational fashion techniques—such as garment deconstruction, fabric manipulation, hand sewing, and textile exploration—participants will have the opportunity to incorporate surface design through painting, fabric markers, and stencil work. Students may use pre-made stencils or create their own to add custom graphics, patterns, or artistic elements to their garments.
Whether designing with thread or paint, this lab encourages bold self-expression and experimentation. Students are encouraged to bring old clothing or accessories, such as jeans, t-shirts, or other garments ready for a second life. No prior experience is required; this workshop is ideal for both beginners and those with some sewing or design background.
