Youth Classes and Workshops, Ages 5 – 16

Youth In-Person Classes and Workshops for Kids and Teens, Ages 5 – 16, offer the opportunity to experiment, learn, and develop art skills in small outdoor and classroom sizes with enhanced health protocols in place. Visual art instruction covers painting, drawing, printmaking, hand-sculpture, photography, graphic design, crafts, and mixed-media. Programs are led by Art House instructors and offered in daily or weekly sessions in the classroom. Classes limited to 8 or 10 students. Masks will be worn by students and instructor. Desks will be set up 3 feet apart.

Refund Policy: The Northville Art House does not prorate classes. A 50% refund will only be given to students who cancel their registration 48 hours before their first class. Members can receive a credit in their NAH account. NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN within 48 hours of first class.

Mixed Media & Painting for Ages 9-13

In this class, students will experiment and learn techniques and methods that can be incorporated with watercolors – such as acrylics, crayon, calligraphy paper, gold foil, bubble wraps, alcohol, salt and masking fluid – to create endless and unique art pieces!


Winter Wonderland Painting Workshop for Ages 8-11

Create Art Together: A Caregiver and Child Class for Ages 6-12

Bring your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, neighbor or friend ages 6-12 years old and share the creative process! Workshop enrollment is for one adult and one child and each will work on their own paper or canvas. Each class will be unique, so attend more than once!

Design and create your very own fleece stuffed creature in this one-day workshop. Hand sewing techniques will be taught and project is more like a shaped pillow made out of soft fleece and felt.


Valentine’s Day Jewelry Making Workshop for Ages 7-11

Use semi-precious stone, acrylic, and ceramic beads to make jewelry for yourself or as gifts for family and friends.
Learn polymer clay techniques to create your own pedants and beads to incorporate into necklaces and bracelets. Some clay pieces will be Valentine’s Day themed with hearts and lots of sparkle.


Heroes, Villains, and Monsters for Ages 9-15

Children’s Drawing and Painting for Ages 5-9

Are you finding that your child needs a creative outlet? Do you know that artmaking relieves stress, builds critical thinking, enhances creative thinking, and problem-solving skills? Sasha is an experienced and certified art teacher who encourages creative and critical thinking skills. She will developmentally teach your child the fundamentals of drawing and painting with mixed media, while keeping in mind the joy of self-expression. Each class encourages students’ creativity while learning about color, value. composition, and more. Students will build on skills learned each week to create a landscape, still life, famous artist-inspired composition, and/or nature art pieces. New topics are introduced each quarter. There is no experience necessary to be successful in this class – all skill levels of artists are welcome!

Material Fee: $15 paid to the instructor via PayPal or Venmo the first day of class.


Young Adult Draw Class for Ages 9-15

Learn to draw and/or advance in drawing skills. Step by step instruction starting with basic shapes while learning concepts of light, shading, color theory, perspective and more! Topics range from learning art history and copying a master’s painting or drawing, animals, still life, floral, landscape… using several drawing mediums ( soft and oil pastel, pen and ink/wash, colored pencils, graphite) on a variety of high quality artist paper.


Mixed Media & Painting for Ages 9-13

Kid’s ages 6-8 will explore different media and subjects – from drawing a still life to sculpting animals in clay! Young artists will be exposed to all different types of art with an emphasis on experimentation and exploring their own creativity.
