Youth Classes and Workshops, Ages 5 – 17

Youth In-Person Classes and Workshops for Kids and Teens, Ages 5 – 17, offer the opportunity to experiment, learn, and develop art skills in small outdoor and classroom sizes with enhanced health protocols in place. Visual art instruction covers painting, drawing, printmaking, hand-sculpture, photography, graphic design, crafts, and mixed-media. Programs are led by Art House instructors and offered in daily or weekly sessions in the classroom. Classes limited to 10-12 students. 

Refund Policy: The Northville Art House does not prorate classes. A 50% refund will only be given to students who cancel their registration 48 hours before their first class. Members can receive a credit in their NAH account. NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN within 48 hours of first class.

Paint Party Workshop for Ages 8-12

Clay Donuts Workshop for Ages 5-8

Join us for a fun, creative and delicious workshop! We’ll experiment with air-dry clay and we’ll make our very own yummy clay donuts! We’ll make sure to add glaze and sprinkles!


Fused Glass Fishbowl Sun Catcher Workshop for Ages 8+

Kids will create a unique Fishbowl Sun Catcher by stacking and placing colorful precut pieces of glass on a flat glass base.

Pieces will be left to be fused in a kiln and will be ready for pick-up approximately 10 days after the workshop.

Alpaca Painting Workshop for Ages 5-8

Do you like alpacas? This is the perfect workshop for you! In this workshop, we will learn how to draw an alpaca! We will use canvas and acrylic paint and add any decorations we like!

 

 


Weaving Workshop for Ages 9-15

Join us for this fun weaving workshop! We will use yarn and a paper loom to weave our very own wall hanging. We’ll learn the basic weaving techniques and choose the colors that we love!

3D Art for Ages 5-8

Join us for a fun art class! We’ll learn to create 3-D art made of different materials and techniques. We’ll experiment with acrylics, wood, glue and much more!


Children’s Drawing and Painting for Ages 5-9

Are you finding that your child needs a creative outlet? Do you know that artmaking relieves stress, builds critical thinking, enhances creative thinking, and problem-solving skills? Sasha is an experienced and certified art teacher who encourages creative and critical thinking skills. She will developmentally teach your child the fundamentals of drawing and painting with mixed media, while keeping in mind the joy of self-expression. Each class encourages students’ creativity while learning about color, value. composition, and more. Students will build on skills learned each week to create a landscape, still life, famous artist-inspired composition, and/or nature art pieces. New topics are introduced each quarter. There is no experience necessary to be successful in this class – all skill levels of artists are welcome!

Material Fee: $15 paid to the instructor via PayPal or Venmo the first day of class.


Teen Printmaking for Ages 12-18

In person classes will be held in the classroom. This class is limited to 10 students.

Printmaking is great fun since it is making art by printing pictures and/or designs. The advantage of printmaking is that lots of the same picture can be printed. This is called a print. Each print is not a copy, but an original, since it came from the same source (not like painting or drawing). In this class we will explore a variety of different printmaking techniques from monoprinting to stamping and relief printing.


Let’s Write a Song! for Ages 11-15

A fun, interactive class that teaches the basics of songwriting. Learn song structure, rhyming and rhythm, how to pick a topic and collaborate with your classmates to create your own original music! No experience necessary. All materials provided.


Shimmer Art & Watercolors for Ages 9-13

Acrylic Painting Techniques for Young Adults 11-15

We will be learning about techniques and materials that will bring together the fun of painting with a knowledge of how to put our vision on the canvas. Color, materials, and various painting techniques will all be explored.


Art to Wear Workshop for Ages 8-12

Learn fabric painting techniques to create a unique purse or tote bag. Also explore jewelry making – leave the workshop with at least 2 handmade jewelry pieces using acrylic and semi-precious stone beads.


Create Art Together: a Caregiver/Child Workshop for Ages 6-11

Painterly Monoprints Workshop for Ages 12-18

Come learn how to make numerous prints, one print at a time. We will learn about different printmaking techniques specific to the monoprint. Our creations will have a painterly look, yet the marks and appearance that only a print can create.


Space Rocket Night Light Workshop for Ages 9-15

In this workshop, we’ll learn how to build a space rocket out of a plastic bottle, that will light up and lead you through a universe of fantastic dreams.

 

 


Playing with Pattern Workshop for Ages 9-15

Patterns don’t have to be flat – explore techniques to create optical illusions with patterns. Learn Zentangle techniques to create amazing patterned art. Each student will leave the workshop with a set of pens, pencil and erasers inside a Zentangle book, so you can keep creating at home.

 


Manga Drawing Workshop for Ages 10-16

In this workshop, Mark will do live demonstrations at an easel, while explaining the secrets of drawing and comic book storytelling. Drawing and Painting Workshop: Stuffed Animals for Ages 7-11

Each young artist will select a new stuffed animal, pick from a unicorn, koala, panda or lion. The stuffies will be our inspiration for learning drawing and gauche painting techniques. Students will take home a finished work of art and their stuffed animal. Limited to 9 students so sign up early!


Paint Party: Think Spring! Workshop for Ages 7-13
