Summer Art Camps for Youth and Teens

Summer Art Camps offer youth and teens creative opportunities to try a new medium, develop as artist, and expand their art portfolio. Led by Art House instructors, the camps start on June 19 and run in weekly morning and afternoon sessions through the end of August. One-day workshops also offered. Space is limited so register early.

YOUTH SUMMER CAMPS (for Ages 5 – 18)


CANCELLATION POLICY:

A full refund will be issued minus the 10% non-refundable deposit at least 2 weeks before the first day of camp. Students who wish to cancel less than 2 weeks before the first day of camp are not eligible for a refund.


Summer Camp: Outer Space Art for Grades 1st-3rd

Explore space in this mixed media camp. Projects including a robot canvas painting, learn to draw an astronaut, rockets and distant planets. Even learn how to sculpt an alien out of clay.

 

 


Summer Camp: Architecture Rendering for Grades 4th-10th

Location: Mill Race
Meeting Point: Cady Inn Building at Mill Race

Architectural Rendering teaches everything you need to know about rendering photorealistic interior architectural scenes. The class taps into different components that add a sense of depth and realism to professional designs, including materials, and exterior elements like trees, grass, and people.

Artists will bring their own lawn chair.

In case of rain, we will use the Church building at Mill Race.

 

 


Summer Camp: Everything 3D for Grades 4th-6th

Young artists will explore the world of 3D art with lots of clay projects, 3D sculptures and mosaic art.

 

 

 


Summer Camp: Urban Sketching for Grades 5th-10th

Location: Downtown Northville
Meeting Point: Northville Art House Parking Lot

Urban sketching is a drawing while on location in areas that you live in or traveling to. Learn to sketch of surroundings, groups of building, stores, temples, concerts, parks -you can sketch it! It’s a great informal way to document the world you live in. We will acquire the skills of reading proportion, scaling, vanishing point.

Artists will bring their own lawn chair.

In case of rain, we will use our gallery space at the Art House.

 

 


Summer Camp: Art in the Garden for Grades 1st-3rd

Get inspired by creatures you might find in your backyard and create arts and crafts you can use in the garden. We will make an animal shaped flower pot and plant flowers in it on the last day of camp. Materials will include acrylic paint, pastels, watercolor, clay and natural materials like skeleton leaves, shells and sand.

 

 


Summer Camp: Fur and Feathers – Paint and Draw Animals for Grades 4th – 6th

Using acrylic paint, charcoal, graphite pencils and watercolor students will create amazing animal art. Learn techniques for capturing the unique textures of fur, animal skin and animal eyes.

 

 


MINI Summer Camp: Fairytale Fun for Grades 1st-3rd

Young campers will let their imaginations run wild in this painting and drawing camp. Projects include drawing a castle, a mermaid collage, painting a dragon and making a magic wand.

Summer Camp: Mix it Up – Mixed Media Art for Grades 4th-6th

Join the fun to create colorful, layered works of art. Every project will include at least 3 different media. Materials we will combine may include: handmade paper, paint, fabric, pastels, markers, beads, glitter, gold foil, wax and ink.

 

 


STEAM Camp 1

Join us as we explore the mysteries of science! In this STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art & Math) camp students will learn the science behind many of life’s mysteries and marvels – including volcanoes, water science, bouncing bubbles, slime, forces & motion, rockets and much more! Camp is limited to 14 students.

Summer Camp: Fashion Design Star for Grades 1st-3rd

Learn how to design and draw your own fashion collection and make fashion accessories like jewelry, a purse, tie dye t-shirts and paint a silk scarf.

 

 


Summer Camp: Crazy Color Camp for Grades 1st-3rd

Summer Camp: Exploring Abstract Art for Grades 4th-8th

Experiment with form, texture and color while learning different approaches to creating abstract art. We will draw and paint to different music, use chance to dictate our color choices and work on a collaborative group project among other experimental artworks.

 

 


Summer Workshop: Whimsical Wind Chimes for Grades 3rd+up

Sign your child up to make a whimsical fused glass Wind Chime!
The kids will stack colorful pieces of pre-fused and precut fusible glass on base pieces of clear glass. They will also be taught simple nipping techniques to create their unique design. Projects will be fused in a kiln and will be assembled. Pick-up will be approximately ten days after the workshop.

 

 


Summer Workshop: Fun and Functional for Grades 3rd+up

Give your kids a fun experience working with fused glass to create their own dish or bowl! They will learn how to cut and nip colorful pieces of glass that they will stack on a base piece of compatible glass to create their unique design. No experience necessary. All tools and supplies will be provided.
Pieces will be fused in a kiln and ready for pick-up in approximately two weeks.

 

 


Summer Camp: Art Explorers for Grades 4th-10th

Summer Camp: OFF the Wall – Painting and Drawing for Grades 4th-8th

Explore unusual materials to create unique artwork including rock painting, drawing on wood, painting on fabric and metal along with other “out of the box” materials.

 

 


Summer Workshop: Fishbowl Sun Catcher for Grades 3rd+up

Kids will create a unique Fishbowl Sun Catcher by stacking and placing colorful precut pieces of glass on a flat glass base. STEAM Camp 2

Get ready to have tons of fun while creating amazing science & art projects in this camp for students going into grades 1st-5th! We’ll create slime art, design a sharpie pen t-shirt, make a spinning top toy and wall collage, assemble a color-changing bead necklace, create a crystal ornament all while learning their scientific principles! Camp is limited to 14 students.

Summer Camp: Under the Sea for Grades 1st-3rd

Create art inspired by surf, sand and animals that live in the ocean. Materials will include water color, pastels, colored pencil, markers and colorful clay.
