Summer Art Camps for Youth, Teens & Adults

Summer Art Camps offer youth and adults creative opportunities to try a new medium, develop as artist, and expand their art portfolio. Led by Art House instructors, the camps typically start the third week in June and run in morning and afternoon sessions. Camps limited to 8 students for indoor sessions. Masks will be worn by students and instructor. Desks will be set up 6 feet apart.

Youth Summer Camps (Ages 5-16)


Summer Camp: Prehistoric Worlds for Grades K-3rd

June 21 – 25
Days: Monday – Friday
Time: 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
5 days (M) $180; (NM) $200 (This price includes all material)
In-person at the Art House / Max of 8 students – Masks are required

Tyrannosaurus Rex, Pterodactyls, Saber-toothed tigers, cavemen and more! We are going to explore prehistoric animals, plants and humans in a fun and interactive way using models and pictures to guide us. Learn the basics of Shape Form drawing technique while we learn about the fascinating creatures and people that walked the Earth long before us!


Summer Camp: Heroes, Villains and Monsters for Grades 4th-11th

Days: Monday – Friday
Time: 1:00 – 3:30 pm
5 days (M) $180; (NM) $200 (This price includes all material)
In-person at the Art House / Max of 8 students – Masks are required

Join us and learn to draw your favorite characters from the Marvel and DC universes – Captain America, Batman, Loki, and more. We might even take a shot at Godzilla and King Kong! Students will learn the basics of Shape Form drawing and foreshortening to create fun and realistic projects.


Summer Camp: Landscape Weaving for Grades 5th-10th

June 28 – July 2
Days: Monday – Friday
Time: 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

In-person at the Art House / Max of 8 students – Masks are required

Create a colorful and fun weaving inspired by your own watercolor painting! Students will learn basic watercolor techniques to create a variety of landscapes, and create a weaving based off of their favorite. Students will take home their finished weaving and an art booklet of their paintings and paper art.


Summer Camp: Island Adventures Draw – Paint – 3D Art for Grades 1st-5th

Get ready to travel to the most beautiful islands this summer! Make sure to pack your art passport before we start our journey! We’ll visit tropical destinations & Mediterranean islands, we’ll meet new cultures, and we will draw, paint and create unique 3D projects. Get ready for a fun and artsy summer!


Summer Camp: Urban Sketching for Grades 7th-12th

Location: Downtown Northville
Meeting Point: Northville Art House Parking Lot

Urban sketching is a drawing while on location in areas that you live in or traveling to. Learn to sketch of surroundings, groups of building, stores, temples, concerts, parks -you can sketch it! It’s a great informal way to document the world you live in. We will acquire the skills of reading proportion, scaling, vanishing point.

Artists will bring their own lawn chair.

Meeting Point: Cady Inn Building at Mill Race

Architectural Rendering teaches everything you need to know about rendering photorealistic interior architectural scenes. The class taps into different components that add a sense of depth and realism to professional designs, including materials, and exterior elements like trees, grass, and people.

Summer Camp: Art Among the Stars for Grades K-3rd

July 12 – 16
Days: Monday – Friday
Time: 1:00 – 3:30 pm

Join us for a unique trip among the stars! We will travel through the centuries and learn how to create beautiful skies and stars by using different mediums – acrylics, collage, clay, glow in the dark materials. We will experiment with different styles from impressionism & abstract art to today’s cultural trends, like Star Wars!


Summer Camp: Baby Zoo Animals Draw – Paint – 3D Art for Grades K-3rd

July 19 – 23

Wear your comfy clothes and get ready for an artsy zoo experience! During this week, we will create the cutest zoo baby animals by using different mediums! We will draw, paint and sculpt!


Summer Camp: Beach Party for Grades 4th-7th

Join the fun as we imagine a beach adventure…design your own surfboard, create a clay-sand sculpture, paint an ocean landscape and learn how to draw ocean creatures like fish, an octopus and seahorses.


Summer Camp: 3D African Art for Grades 4th-10th

Africa has a great history of arts and culture! Travel with us to this beautiful continent, where we’ll create jewelry, colorful masks, unique drums and much more! This is a mixed media camp and we’ll make sure to stop for a safari experience!


Summer Camp: Camping Adventures for Grades 1st-3rd

Create art inspired by outdoor camping adventures like paint a campfire landscape, draw animals found in the forest, sculpt friendly frogs, snails and smores with clay and paint on a real tree slice.


Summer Camp: Broadway Bound for Grades 2nd-5th

From Beauty and the Beast to Lion King…get inspired by the characters and music from Broadway musicals! We will create 2D and 3D art from 4 different Broadway shows using watercolor, pen and ink, pastels, paint and clay. On the last day create the idea for your own musical and make the poster to advertise your creation.

Possible fieldtrip to the Marquis Theater, Downtown Northville.


Summer Camp: Space is the Place for Grades 1st-3rd

Create images of space using pastels and water color, construct a 3D rocket, imagine the surface of a distant planet and draw it with colored pencils, along with other projects that are out of this world!


Summer Camp: 3D Illusions for Grades 4th-7th

Join us this summer and learn techniques and tricks for creating depth on a 2-Dimensional surface using pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor and acrylic paint.

“It’s not what you see but how you see it”. Join us for an outdoor photography walk at Mill Race and learn how to see details in the world around us. During this relaxing photography workshop, we’ll discover details in things often overlooked; we’ll explore nature and non-nature abstracts, we’ll find abstracts, textures and more.

All abilities and level of drawing experience welcome as we settle in outdoors to draw from nature, architecture, and more. If the weather does not cooperate, we will move into the Mill Race chapel if needed. Table easels, tables, and supplies provided. You are welcome to bring your own if you wish.

During this workshop, we’ll learn how to see details in flowers, critters, leaves and non nature. We’ll talk about depth of field, bokeh, focus stacking and more. Camera all types are welcomed. Tripod is required.
