Youth, Teen, and Adult Workshops offer the opportunity for students to experiment, learn, and develop art skills in small classroom sizes. Adult workshops are for ages 16+ unless otherwise noted. Workshops are led by Northville Art House instructors and are offered in one- or two-day sessions. Each workshop is limited to 10 students. Register today!

REFUND / CANCELLATION POLICY
A refund will be issued minus a 10% non-refundable deposit on ALL classes and workshops when cancelled 48 hours or more before the first class or workshop starts. Students who wish to cancel less than 48 hours before the first day of class are not eligible for a refund or credit.

Young artists will create a fall fairy garden with a painted house, stepping stones and trees. Students will also create toadstools and pumpkins out of clay to personalize their magical 3D landscape.

We will introduce you to basic glass fusing and cutting techniques to complete an 8”x12” Charcuterie Board.
You will learn how to cut and nip colorful pieces of glass that you will stack on a base piece of glass to create your unique design.
No experience necessary. Supplies supplied.
Pieces will be fused in a kiln and ready for pick-up within two weeks.

In this workshop students will create a handwoven tapestry that can be used as a wall hanging. The process of weaving will be taught from start to finish by learning to thread the warp on a cardboard loom and finally finish the edges of the woven piece. Students will produce a variety of woven patterns while using a simple loom which will be included but they will bring their own yarn.

Encaustic is a painting method using hot beeswax and pigments resulting in layers of rich color. It is perfect for incorporating other materials like paper and fabric into the wax. Students will explore various encaustic techniques including layering, fusing, incising, embedding, and image transfers. Studio safety will also be covered along with tips for setting up your own encaustic studio at home.

Come join a “spooktacular” morning of Halloween Cookie decorating fun! You and your child will enjoy making memories as you learn some “tricks” designing and decorating your very own set of Halloween themed cookies! All you need for this class is yourself and your child, as all materials will be provided! At the end of class, you will also receive a box to take your tasty treats home where you can show them off to all your goblin friends!

Join our “Improvisation On Canvas” workshop, where you’ll paint to jazz music, focusing on abstract expression using texture and colors. Inspired by Be Bop era artists like Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis, you’ll learn to “hear” in color and “listen” for shapes. The instructor will provide individual guidance and encourage the use of alternate materials for applying paints. Canvases and acrylic paints are provided. At the end of the class, you’ll have the opportunity to share your work, learn from others, and discuss your creative process.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create foundational elements such as value, texture and color through layered collaged paper. Together, we’ll begin with a basic underpainting of a simple object. Experimenting with different weights and styles of papers, we’ll practice creating various values, shapes and movements. Each student will choose their own colors and styles while receiving hands-on instructions to ensure a beautiful, finished painting.
All materials will be provided, exclusive of smocks. Please dress accordingly.
All levels are welcome, and no experience is necessary but, please note, this workshop focuses on collage techniques- not foundational drawing or painting techniques. The underpainting will be basic and can accommodate any level of artist. Paintings can be taken home immediately.

Join us for a two-hour SoulCollage® workshop, where you’ll tap into your inner wisdom through intuitive collage-making and journaling. Led by certified facilitator Sasha, this session is perfect for beginners and experienced card-makers alike—no artistic talent needed, just an open heart. You’ll create 5×8 inch collages from simple images, turning them into a personal deck of cards for guidance and meditation. Through the “I Am One Who…” journaling process, you’ll explore your inner and outer guides, life challenges, and different aspects of yourself. All materials are provided, and each card you make is a unique reflection of you.

You’ll receive instruction in simple color mixing with a modern palette and painting techniques suitable for beginners and up. Looking for a relaxing and fun fall night out? Come join Audrey Edwards for an evening sugar cookie decorating around a set of six your very own “Give Thanks” Thanksgiving themed sugar cookies!
The class is going to be roughly 2.5 – 3 hours in length. During class, participants will be given tips on how to bake a beautiful cut-out cookie that doesn’t spread and tips on how to make various consistencies of royal icing while learning different decorating techniques as you outline, flood, and detail your own set of the six cookies. You will be provided with everything needed to decorate your cookies from start to finish along with having detailed guidance on how to decorate your cookies that you can have to serve your Thanksgiving guests for the holiday!

Gear up for the holiday season with our fun workshop, where families are invited to bring their own sweaters or skirts to transform into unique holiday garments. This one-day event is perfect for all ages and skill levels, offering a wonderful opportunity for families to bond over a shared creative activity. Participants will learn basics of hand sewing, and personalize their own garment with vibrant fabrics, festive appliques and playful embellishments.
Participants must bring their own garment (t-shirt, sweater, sweatshirt, etc.) to decorate. All other decorating supplies will be provided.

Together, we will work on layering a blend of paint pens, acrylic paint, and collage papers to create a one-of-a-kind seasonal painting featuring a vibrant poinsettia with shimmering metallic accents. Each student will choose their own colors and styles while receiving hands-on instructions to ensure a beautiful, finished painting. Students will have the opportunity to accent their paintings with metallic foil, leaf or paints to create a lasting, artistic keepsake.
All materials will be provided but feel free to bring a printed photo reference of a poinsettia and any holiday themed tissue papers, greeting cards or paper-based ephemera that you’d like to incorporate into your work of art (this is completely optional, not required)
