In Collective Inspirations, the Chelsea Painters invite viewers to experience a collection of work shaped by shared curiosity, expressive freedom, and the subtle transformations that unfold when artists grow together. Each work in this exhibition reflects a distinct creative voice—yet together, these pieces form a harmonious tapestry of color, gesture, and imagination. Across diverse media and subjects, the artists draw strength from one another, finding inspiration in both their differences and their common dedication to pursuing excellence in their painting careers. March 24 – April 2 | Northville High School IB Art Exhibition | Reception: Tuesday, March 24, 6 – 8 pm
This exhibition features artwork created by 28 students enrolled in Northville High School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Art experience. In the program, students developed problem-solving skills and proficiency as artists by exploring and experimenting in a variety of contemporary practices and media. For the program’s culmination, the students install a selection of their best works in our galley, each with thoughtfully written object labels.
March 24 – April 2: NHS Virtual Art | Virtual Presentation: Wednesday, March 25, 7 – 8 pm
First held in 1999, this annual exhibition features artworks by artists in Grades 9 – 12 from Northville High School view online. Each artist is recognized and given insight and feedback on their creative work during a virtual presentation. Prizes awarded.

This annual exhibition honors the commitment of our members from Southeast Michigan and beyond, whose support plays a vital role in bringing our mission to life. We welcome the public to discover the unique artistic voices and styles of over 100 member artists.
May 29 – June 30 | Art of the Story: Juried All-Media Exhibition
Art of the Story invites artists from around the country to explore the connection between literature and the visual arts. This exhibition challenges artist to select a fiction or nonfiction book that moves them and create works in any medium that visually interpret or respond to its pages. Books spark imagination, stir emotion, and transport us to new worlds—artists will bring those worlds to life! Juried by Katie Rothley, Marketing & Public Relations Librarian at the Northville District Library, this exhibition celebrates the magic of storytelling and the creative journeys it inspires. September 1 – September 26 | Inspired by John Singer Sargeant | Reception: TBD
Inspired by John Singer Sargent celebrates the creative dialogue between a great master and twelve Metro Detroit area artists. John Singer Sargent (1856–1925), renowned for his luminous portraits, expressive brushwork, and dramatic sense of costume and pose, provides the spark for this collection of all–prima and studio-finished works. Each artist worked from live models using Sargent’s compositions, palettes, and sensibilities as starting points, allowing his influence to guide, but never confine, their own unique voices. The resulting portraits and figurative pieces, echo Sargent’s flair while offering fresh interpretations shaped by each artist’s medium and style. This exhibition invites viewers to discover how contemporary artists reimagine a celebrated painter’s vision, finding new energy and meaning in poses, gestures, and light first explored more than a century ago.
October 2 – October 31 | Off-Center: Art That Pushes Boundaries | Reception: Friday, October 2 or 9, 5 – 8 pm
Off-Center invited artists from around the country to push the boundaries of art imagery with works that inspire thought, provoke emotion, and induce awe. From the bizarre and emotive to the fantastic and inspirational, this juried exhibition strives to surprise and thrill visitors. This exhibition attracts artists from around the country submitting works in a variety of media, subjects, and styles.
November 10 – December 17 | Small Works | Reception: Friday, November 13, 5 – 8 pm
Small Works features over 125 works of art on a diminutive scale, 16 inches or less including the frame, in a variety of media. Juried artwork from artists around the country ranges from 2D collage, drawings, paintings, photography, and printmaking to 3D ceramics, sculpture, assemblage, mixed media, and metalwork.
